Flannel Quilt Warms the Soul

Made out of flannel, this is the perfect quilt for the cold winter days we’ve been having! Muriel made this as a wedding present for her niece using the pattern “Hopscotch” from the book “Six Halves Make a Whole” and a bundle of the half-yard cuts of Buggy Barn Flannels. Just pick a background fabric and a border fabric and you’re ready to go! Quilt measures 58” x 74”. The book also includes a bonus pattern for turning the left-overs into a 17” wall hanging or pillow. Great book, great quilt, and love those flannels!

This last one is HUGE!! See Marshall straining to hold it up.  He travels all about the Southeast and finds the most luscious kits.  Way to SEW Marshall.

Sweet Sixteen Block of the Month Starts Soon!

I would be the worst "blog Mama" in the world, if I did not share this picture with you in time for you to sign up for the "Sweet Sixteen Block of the Month".  The fabric choices are so clever and stunning you have got to get the kit.  No decisions to make, just sewing bliss.  Here is a photo of the first block that Kathie W. has sewn.  She will be making the quilt.  She sewed the 12 Days of Christmas applique block of the month too so review those and you know you are in for a smooth ride. Oh my gosh, what talent!  Go to http://www.littlequilts.com/ for more details.

Three different settings for the alternate blocks of the 2010 Second Saturday Sampler

Red and Gold Glory, in more Christmasy colors, was made by Libby Lowe and is a very simple setting idea . 60 x 75

For something a little more contemporary, Linda Rice made her blocks in the bright fabrics so popular right now. Her quilt, Modern Fantasy, is made extra special with a scalloped edge. 55” x 69”

Jackie Blackburn used pink and brown reproduction colors for her blocks. She used a great border fabric in a strippy setting for her quilt, Chocolate and Cherries. 77” x 82”

The Grande Finale of the 2010 Second Saturday Sampler

Wanda outdid herself this year with the Second Saturday Sampler quilt. A beautiful floral border and a pieced sashing make this quilt a stunner! 64” x 80” .

If you made the 6” blocks, you’ll love them in this strippy setting. 41” x 44”

Mary Jane from Claire Thibault of La Maibaie, Quebec was in our area and stopped by with her rug hooked piece that she hooked using yarn. It was based on a painting by Harding F. Bancroft. Very nice, Mary Jane.
